Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales Should Do The Nation a Favor and Just Resign.

The legalities of the firing of the U.S. Attorneys appears to be debatable, and no doubt will be until we are all weary of it. The partisan rancor behind the clamor over this incident is beyond debate, though if the parties were reversed there would be no difference in the volume. But the general incompetence and comical ineptitude of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales is utterly indisputable. He should do the country and the administration a favor and find employment elsewhere.

The Attorney General position requires a few qualities that Mr.Gonzales seems to glaringly lack. By his own admission he has a "hands off" management style, but in this case it seems like driving a car with your hands off of the wheel. Save us all the drama, please, and just step down. It's inevitable at this point, and everyone in Washington knows it.

Bush doesn't seem to think so. See this:

Bush also affirmed his support for Rumsfeld a few months before he was canned. Bush himself is the one who will continue bleeding while Gonzalez stays. Sooner or later, he'll push him out of the door.
