Democrats Should Reign In Their Christian Bashing Liberal Supporters.

The case of the John Edwards bloggers points up a larger issue, namely the anti-Christian loathing that has come to the fore in the overheated political atmosphere of the bush years. Read this:
Just being a bilious feminist with a potty mouth doesn't much distinguish one in the blogosphere these days...For what the blogger tempest really illuminates is a fact that could come to haunt the Democrats as they vie for national office: namely, that their past few wilderness years have also been boom years for the church-loathing liberal/left punditry. As a result, anti-Christian invective now graces (or disgraces) many of the books, magazines, Web sites and blogs to which liberals, including the Democratic elite, habitually look for ideas.

The Democrats, who seem to live for the moments when some gaffe proves bigotry in their opponents, seem willing to tolerate this bigotry in their midst, as long as no one notices. When someone like Virgil Goode makes an anti-Muslim remark, the liberal blogosphere comes alive with indignation, but when liberal bloggers are attacked for blatantly anti-Catholic and anti-Christian remarks they are called martyrs and victims of right wing "smear" tactics. It is time Democrats purge these bigots in their midsts. The problem is, if they do, there might not be any liberals left to talk to.

I'm on the fence here.....everyone has a right to their opinion. She should have had better sense than to publically display it.

I wasn't trying to pick on her personally, but on the liberal intelligentsia in general. They think the threat is here inside Christian Churches and they think it is racist to point out Islamist crimes.

I'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state, but this double standard needs to be shown for what it is, and that is what I tried to do. These young ladies absolutely have the right to say what they wish, but in today's America showing prejudice can get you disqualified from a campaign quickly. They are not the first to pay this price for what is considered bigoted remarks, and they won't be the last.

Very good article, and like I've written before, candidates had better read bloggers in there entirety before they hire them. The freewheeling, often profane, blogoshpere is going to embarrass candidates time and time again in the coming years. Welcome to the new world, where the web is an integral part of the political system, yet is on the outside of it at the same time. It should be fun to watch.
